Shan Wijalayal de Silva takes oaths as South chief minister
Shan Wijayalal de Silva was this morning (Oct. 29) sworn in as chief minister of southern province.
He took oaths of his office before president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
His appointment is effective for a four-year term.
Mr. de Silva was also the chief minister in the previous council.
Other ministers also took their oaths on the occasion.
They are Hemal Gunasekara, W.K. Indika, Dayawansha Ariyathilake Gamage and Wijaya Bindu Weerasinghe.
Shan Wijayalal De Silva – Minister of Finance and Planning, Justice and Law, Transport, Drainage and Water Supply, Power, Engineering Services, Health, Indigenous Medicine, and Local Government.
Hemal Gunasekara – Minister of Southern Province Land and Land Development, Irrigation, Roads and Highways, Information, Rural and Estate Infrastructure Development
V.K. Indika – Minister of Southern Province Education and Cultural Affairs, Food Supply and Distribution, Trade and Cooperative Development.
Dayawansha Ariyathilake Gamage – Minister Sports and Youth Affairs, Rural Industries, Rural Development, Tourism, Economic Promotions, Social Welfare, Child Protection Services, Women’s Affairs, Building and Constructions, Manpower and Employment.
Wijaya Bindu Weerasinghe – Minister of Agricultural and Agrarian Development, Livestock Development, Fisheries and Environmental Affairs.
