Minister Wimal Weerawansa should quit the government now itself as the Northern Provincial Council elections are scheduled to be held as announced by the government, UNP MP K. Welayudam said today. He claimed that it was pointless to stay in the government threatening to quit if the Northern PC polls are held.

The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) said today it would disband if Minister Wimal Weerawansa proved that the BBS had obtained funds from Norway or from any other country or organisation.
“We challenge Minister Weerawansa to prove that BBS has taken money from Norway or from any other country or organization. If he proves that we have even taken even Rs.5 from any of these groups, we will make a public apology and disband the BBS within two hours of his doing so,” BBS General Secretary Ven. Galagodaththe Gnanasara thera said at a news conference in Colombo. (Jayashika Padmasiri)

The UNP said today Minister Wimal Weerawansa should quit his portfolio and leave the government right away.
UNP Uva provincial council member K. Velayudham told a news conference that the government would definitely hold the Northern Provincial Council elections and therefore Minister Weerawansa should quit as he undertook to do at his May Day speech without threatening the Government.

BBS suspects Wimal – Shiv Sena links |

The Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) today claimed that Minister Wimal Weerawansa may have links with Shiva Sena in India.
BBS general secretary the venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara thero said that the Minister’s wife is working with a Buddhist monk in Padukka who is funded by the Shiva Sena.
Shiv Sena, is a Hindu nationalist political organisation in India. Gnanasara said that the Shiva Sena is working on the policy that Buddhism did not originate in India and the monk in Padukka is doing the same.

Speaking at an event at the Hataraliyadda Divisional Secretariat Deputy Minister of Finance Dr. Sarath Amunugama said that that the number of minister who spend a lot are greater than those who bring an income to the country.
''There are many ministers who spend a lot. And there are a less number of ministers who bring in an income to the country. People go to the Middle East for employment and generate 6 billion US dollars as income to the country.''

Mr.Sujan Wickramarachchi from Boralasgamuwa Sri Lanka has been elected for the West Sussex municipal council in England. He has obtained 951 votes. Richard Bates of the Liberal Democratic party has obtained 589 votes and Gren Mountain of Labor party has received 495 votes.
